Is the wood real timber or a wood-effect finish?
It is natural wood, which is why this sconce reads warmer than a purely metal fixture. It also means the grain pattern and exact tone will vary a little between individual pieces - that variation is a characteristic of the material rather than a defect.
How should I care for the wooden base?
Dry cloth only, and this matters more here than on an all-metal sconce. Never use a damp cloth, spray polish or household cleaner on the timber - moisture raises the grain and cleaners can leave a patchy sheen that cannot be reversed. Keep it out of consistently humid rooms.
How do the three colour settings work?
Switching the light off and straight back on at the wall cycles it through 3000K warm white, 4500K neutral white and 6000K cool white. Warm white brings out the honey tone of the wood, while cool white makes the iron and glass read cleaner and more contemporary - useful if the same fixture serves a study by day and a bedroom in the evening.
What does the textured iron add?
