How is this different from the moon and swing versions?
This is the round ball version: the astronaut sits beside a smooth acrylic sphere. Because the globe is unbroken and untextured, it diffuses light evenly in every direction, which makes it the brightest and most useful of the three as an actual light. The moon version has a crater-textured surface, and the swing version hangs the figure from a frame.
How do I change between the three light colours?
Use your existing wall switch. Switching the light off and immediately back on advances it to the next setting - warm white 3000K, then neutral white 4500K, then cool white 6000K. No dimmer, remote or smart hub is required.
Is 20W bright enough to light a child's bedroom?
20W of LED is substantial for a wall sconce, and the round globe spreads it in all directions rather than aiming it, so it does genuine work as room lighting rather than being purely decorative. Set to warm white it makes a soft night-time glow; on cool white it is bright enough for play or homework.
Is the acrylic globe safe in a child's room?
Acrylic is used instead of glass precisely for this: it is shatter-resistant and much lighter, so a knock from a thrown toy will not produce broken glass. The globe is also specified as non-fading, so it should not yellow with use.
Is the astronaut figure fixed in place?
Yes. The spaceman is a moulded resin figure fixed as part of the fixture, not a loose or poseable ornament. Resin holds fine surface detail well, which is what gives the suit its moulded panels and helmet definition.
Can I use it on UK mains electricity?
Yes. It is rated 110V-240V, a wide range that covers the UK 230V supply. It is a hardwired fixture, so have it fitted by a qualified electrician.
How do I clean it?
Wipe both the resin figure and the acrylic globe with a soft dry cloth. Avoid solvents and alcohol-based sprays - they can haze acrylic and dull the painted resin finish. Never use an abrasive pad on the globe, as scratches show up when the light is on.
